Teachers are responsible for ensuring that they are placed in the proper category and salary grid. Article 10 of the Collective Agreement outlines the placement on the salary grid.
Teachers must provide the Board with an OSSTF Certification Rating Statement.  Failure to complete the correct paperwork by the deadlines may result in loss of thousands of dollars!

Information on the various requirements for category placement is available on the provincial OSSTF website

Steps regarding getting a current Certification rating Statement

A. Application forms are accessable here, and on the provincial OSSTF website.

Use this for your initial certification rating statement. It requires official transcripts, which are retained on file for use in future requests. It may take up to 8 weeks before a rating statement is provided.
Use this for re-evaluation for group change and other requests. Either original transcripts or a printout of the current Certificate of Qualification is required, depending on the request. It may take up to 8 weeks to process this request
B. Teachers must provide the OCDSB Human Resources Department with their most current certification rating statement and the accompanying letter. The deadline for receipt of the rating statement is December 31 for retroactive pay to September 1; the deadline is March 31 for retroactive pay to January 01.  Make sure to check your pay stub in the weeks following submission of your new rating statement.

C. Teachers should always get course approval before enrolling in a course for upgrading purposes. Application Form #3 is for course approval. A response is provided within 2 weeks and is valid for 18 months
