Professional Educators and Child Care Staff (PECCS)
PECCS is a bargaining unit of District 25, representing approximately 140 employees of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. We work for the Continuing Education Department of the Board, delivering diverse programs such as Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) including Skills to Go, Adaptive Learning, Workplace Programs, English as a Second Language (ESL), Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) and the Child Care associated with some of those programs and with Employment Resource Centres.
We work at 16 sites around the city, including public schools, community centres and Family Houses, Employment Resource Centres and Board administrative buildings. Our programs are funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, Ontario Works, Success by Six, the Ontario Ministry of Education and the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
Certification as the PECCS Bargaining Unit was organized under the Labour Relations Act in 2004.
